Ready-to-Use Sterilised CVG Substrate

Our CVG is a pre-sterilised bulk substrate made from coco coir, vermiculite and gypsum, hydrated to field capacity and sealed in a filter patch bag. Made on the Sunshine Coast.
What's In It
Coco coir and vermiculite hold a lot of water, and the gypsum adds calcium and sulphur and helps keep the mix loose and airy. On its own the mix is low in nutrition, so it is normally combined with a nutrient source such as grain spawn.
Good to Know
This is not a substrate for wood-loving species such as oyster, lion's mane, shiitake, pioppino or maitake. For those, see our Master Mix or Shiitake Mix.
Using Your Bag
Check your bag when it arrives. If the seal, filter patch or plastic looks damaged, get in touch before using it. Store it upright in a cool, dry spot out of direct sun, and don't stack more than 2 bags high or squash them, as pressure can damage the filter patch or the bag itself. For best results use it as soon as you can, and within 4 weeks, as the mix slowly loses moisture over time.
Each bag comes sealed with a filter patch. Cut it open when you are ready to use it, working inside a still air box or in front of a flow hood, as clean technique makes the biggest difference to your success rate.
