About Us

Hello, I am Martin, co-founder and creator of Fleur de Fungi.

My story begins with curiosity for one of nature’s most fascinating kingdoms: Fungi.

The very first time I stumbled upon mushroom cultivation, I was hooked. Their mysterious beauty, endless variety, and the quiet complexity of how they grow completely drew me in. From that moment, every day became an adventure of learning, experimenting, and with deep admiration for the magic unfolding right before my eyes.

My path to farming wasn’t exactly a straight line. Before Fleur de Fungi became a thriving Sunshine Coast mushroom farm, it started in the most unlikely place, my garage. By day, I worked full-time as a production manager at a bio-tech algae company. By night, I transformed that small space into a mini mushroom kingdom. Juggling spreadsheets with spawn bags, battling heat and humidity in the summer, and pushing through the winter chill.

Years of experience in production and innovative systems management shaped my approach: precise, efficient, and driven by improvement, but always with deep respect for nature’s own pace.

Eventually, the pull of the farm became too strong to ignore. I took the leap, left my full-time job, and became a farmer. It wasn’t the easiest decision, but it was the right one. My reward? Growing mushrooms that are truly nourishing, pure, and of outstanding quality, and bringing them to others.

Today, I grow spray-free, sustainable gourmet mushrooms in a carefully controlled indoor farm, just minutes from Coolum Beach. The vibrant Sunshine Coast inspires me daily — from the standard I set for every harvest to my commitment to sustainability.

For me, mushrooms are not just food. They are flavour, texture, and nourishment, grown with care, patience, and a whole lot of love for what I do. Every harvest is an invitation to taste the difference, to connect with nature, and to enjoy something fresh, wholesome, and local.

At Fleur de Fungi, every bite tells a story and I would love for you to be part of mine.
